Easy welding project ideas to sell or gift

Small and easy-to-do basic welding projects that are great for beginners and pros alike. You can easily create these ideas and sell them in return online or at your local market.

Simplistic metal spider

How to make it

A very basic spider that’s just made from three different-sized nuts and eight round bars that are slightly bent.

Simply tack the 3 nuts together at the bottom, no need to weld them just strong tacks will be sufficient.

You can easily bend those round bars by clamping them to a table and using a vice grip to bend them to the desired size.

Continue to tack the legs at the bottom to the nut as shown.

Simplistic metal tree

How to make it

This exact project uses reinforced round bar, but you can use normal round bar.

Not much to say here because what you see here is enough to know what to do.

Start by cutting lengths about 150mm/100mm, depending on what size you want you can go larger or shorter. Keep reducing your size at a rate you feel is appropriate to you.

Simplistic phone holder

How to make it

This image is just for you to get a basic idea of what you will want in a phone holder.

You will need some sort of base, back piece, and something to keep the phone from sliding.

You can easily replace the horseshoes with metal plates. You can even create your own designs.

Wrench bottle opener

How to make it

This is a very easy project and can make you good money or make great gifts.

Go to second-hand stores/pawn shops and get as many as possible old wrenches then use an angle grinder to cut the pieces to your desired size. Tack bottle openers to the other side and give a small weld.

Bottle opener ends you can buy on amazon for this project.

Basic wallbrackets

How to make it

A straightforward project to do. You will need two pieces of flat bar with holes drilled into them. Two holes at least to the piece that goes against the wall. With the top bracket requiring as much as what you will use it for.

The next step is to weld them together as shown in the image. Then place support in between. It can be anything from a similar flat bar to a piece of angle iron. Just remember to cut the corners at 45 degrees.

Simple metal flower

How to make it

A simple flower made from metal is relatively easy to create if you have the picture.

You don’t have to follow this step by step and recreate the exact thing. You can easily play around with the design

I personally made my own as shown in the image below.

Take a round bar and bend it slightly then tack a nut in its center at one end of the round bar.  Tack the other end of the round bar to some sort of sufficient base plate.

You can create little leaves with washers. Simply hit them in the middle with a chisel till they are slightly bent.

Tack the remaining nuts to the center nut. I recommend not putting them uniformly to give a bit more character.

Metal rose
Metal rose

The one I made for my wife for valentine’s day.

A wine holder

How to make it

This is a novelty item because it is something that you won’t use often if ever unless to show someone, but a very fun project to do.

I will just replace the nuts at the bottom and legs with square bar. It just depends on what you will personally like.

Advanced welding project ideas to sell or gift

Rocket stove

A rocket stove is a small neat thing that’s great for the outdoors and a source of heat for cooking. Simply place wood into it and keep feeding it.

This item is a great example and pretty simple to make. You will just need relatively large square tubing and a bit of angle iron.

You can look on amazon for more ideas

Metal sculptures

You might be thinking there’s no way you can make something like this. It is actually easier than you might think. You can easily find and download templates for the pieces you require. You can look on places like etsy to

Once you have the templates you will need to cut them out. You will probably need some sort of CNC plasma cutter to get perfect cuts. You can also take the drawings to a shop that does CNC cutting to cut the pieces for you.

All you will have to do is put them together and weld them.

Slam lock

A small item but has a lot of moving parts and small pieces. That can be a great challenge to do.

The video clearly indicates what you have to do so not much is needed to be explained.

Metal furniture

Metal-based furniture has always been something that interests me a lot. I love the look of wood with a metal frame around it. As shown in this image.

There are a ton of different ideas you can check out on Pinterest that you can do at home and make. You won’t ever run out of ideas there.

You can even look at items you find in stores and create your own that most likely will be of better quality.

BBQs/ fire pits(bowls)

@jdcustoms_ Field tested. Hard to get it more accurate than that. What would you smoke on this?#smoker #JDcustom #welding #custom #CompleteMyLook #fyp #bbq #cook ♬ original sound - James Daugherty

BBQs/fire pits (bowls) are one of the coolest items you can make and next to furniture one of the items you most likely will use the most.

As mentioned above there are a ton of different BBQs you can create and there are a lot of ideas that you can look at on Pinterest or your local stores.

Just remember to use heat-resistant paint and down allow the source of your fire to touch the main body of your BBQ because it will burn through. Have a grid or mesh where you make the fire that fits into your BBQ. Paint on amazon

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are a ton of ideas out there and a ton that I feel are just a waste of time. That is the ones I have chosen are my personal favorite and that I feel are worth doing.

I have also done a post on projects you can do to become better at welding. Once you have done them, then you can move on to the more advanced project ideas.
